I'm going to give you some resources for searching in Fermanagh and other counties in Ireland. I'm looking at you saying James
Faucett who went to the USA in 1840 is only your great grandfather? A general guesstimate of his age would help to look through birth records. Two bmd data bases for Fermanagh has James
Faussett and
Fawcett, 1870-1903. Records for Fermanagh have large gaps in on-line data bases.
Early parish records can be found on this good Fermanagh resource:
www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom+Ireland+Co.
www.ulsterancestry.com also has records such as landowners
www.familysearch.org has some Faucett's on the main search using Ireland as Place. Many Fermanagh records there, as wel as 1880's census for US,
UK and CAN. Also if you have a general year of birth you can search the
PILOT program on the
Latter Day Saints website. Top left corner of main page see 'search records' pull down menu, click on
PILOT, enter information leave as open as possible. This site also has census and other records mixed in with bmd's.
