Here is my Hanratty line - the only one of a family member who did not go the way to the New World but to Germany!
Franz Hanrotty fount the German branch of the family.
He came to Magdeburg abt./before 1840 and worked there as an clerk with the local Steam Boat Company.
1845 he is listed as a merchant, he was recorded as an English language teacher in Magdeburg when he died there in 1856.
He was allways spelled HANROTTY - maybe they changed the name when they heared him talking his Irish coloured German ?
Ref. to his his death record Franz Hanrotty was born in Dublin, Ireland on 12th March 1812,
he died by pneumonia in the Magdeburg hospital on 15th April 1856.
With his wife Friederike nee Volkmann he had the following children:
Franz Hanrotty b. abt.1840, this son was 16 years old when his father died in 1856, maybe he already moved with his parents to Magdeburg ?
Emil Maximilian Hanrotty b. 26.Sept.1843 in Magdeburg (descendants - me :-)
Johanna Franziska Regina Hanrotty b. 26.Juli.1845 in Magdeburg, gest. 03.08.1846
Johannes Robert Julius Hanrotty b. 12.Feb.1848 in Magdeburg (descendants)
Alphons Hanrotty b. abt 1850 in Magdeburg (descendants)
