Classification: Query
Surnames: McCUTCHEON
I came from the Ards originally and McCutcheon is a very common name there. A branch of the Scottish clan MacDonald the name in Gaelic is MacUisdean. In Irish MacUistin - in English, son of Hugh. Alternative Anglicised names are Hutchinson, Houston, MacWhiston and even Kitchen. Movilla Graveyard in Newtownards has 14 McCutcheon gravestones and they lived both in Newtownards and the surounding townlands icluding Loughriescouse, Ballywitticock, Drumawhey, Ballyskeagh, Ballygrainey and Ballysallagh. I don't see your people interred here so they must be elsewhere. A James McCutcheon of Loughriescouse is listed married to Anna Kelly. No William. A John McCutcheon of L'scouse married to Orcilla Larmor. The 1833 Tithe Aplotments of the Barony of Ards would be helpful.
