Classification: Query
Surnames: COOLEY, BALLYGRAINEY, HOLYWOOD
There were Cooleys in the townland of Ballygrainey who were farmers and another branch in the town of Holywood - John was a joiner/carpenter, Sam a gardener and William John a carter. If you go to freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/holywood presbyterian you will get the Cooley church records of births, etc. You have to look across when you get to the Cooleys on the left hand margin. Other Cooleys mentioned were Mary Glenny Cooley (1901, Muriel Alexander (1904). Jane born 1897, Mary '98, Eliz "69, Eliz '94 and Ellen '99. Also see biz-ire.com which lists John, Sam and William John.
The suffix, "grainey" means the area was a place where grain was grown for the local Abbey in medieval times. There are other Ballygraineys in Ireland
