G'day Mary
I'm in Australia too. Have you found your link to the McClafferty family yet?
The Donegal website is so well laid out and I am still looking through it.
My Mary/Marjory McClafferty/McLafferty was buried Roman Catholic cemetery at Waverley along with her 2 sisters, Ann and Jane. She sponsored at least one if not both of here sisters out to Australia.
Mary's death certificate states she was in NSW for 54 years and she died in 1912. That makes her arriving in NSW in about 1858. Her death cert says she was 73 years old making her year of birth about 1839 in Donegal.
Mary's death certificate further states her parents were deceased; father's name was John McClafferty and mother's name Marjory Terry or Ferry.
On her sisters death details the parents are recorded as John and Jane.
Mary/Marjory lived in the Balmain area of Sydney and her son John Quirk (son to her first marriage) became the Labour member for Rozelle and held the seat for some years.
Hope some of this helps Gerri
