Looking for any information regarding my gr-gr-grandfather Charles Donovan (1831-1903) and his family. He is listed on his death certificate as being born in Bandon, and emigrated to Melbourne Australia on the Donald McKay voyage of 1858. He married a Mary Jordan (of Queen's County) 11 years later and they settled in Warburton, Victoria. I have a lot of information about his life in Australia, but have nothing relating to him or his family back in Ireland other than his parent's names - John Donovan and Mary Hart. The name is sometimes spelled Dunovan, as that is how it is pronounced. There are no other Donovans listed on the Donald McKay, and I wonder if he came to prospect gold, as he lived in Hoddles Creek prior to his marriage, in the middle of the Gold Rush in that area.
Any information would be much appreciated!
