Although this is rather early for Irish records there maybe some parish records.
There is no county Connaught, it is the name of one of the provinces that Ireland was divided into before the Normans/English invaded and there were still Irish Kings. see www.from-ireland.net for the history of land divisions in Ireland. Connaught Consists of Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo

Killian/Killyan in Galway, (Connaught Province).
www.libraryireland.com

Ballina appears as both a Parish and a townland in Mayo as well as a townland in several other counties including Galway in the Parish of Killeerin, Poor Law Union Tuam. Also a townland in the Parish of Kilmoremoy as well as the Poor Law Union. A PLU town would be where administration would take place for all villages, towns, townlands and the Workhouse would be located all would be within a 12 mi area.

By the time the Griffith Valuation took place 1856 in Galway and there were no Scott's specifically in those parishes. See below.

I did find a Killina in Monaghan County.

The Tithe Applotments are the earliest census substitute 1823-1837
www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie

Some Scott's (7) but no Luke

Griffith Valuation: www.askaboutireland.ie

John Scott, Parish of Taghboy, Townland Caltraghduff, Poor Law Union Mountbellew,
tenant of Richard D. Kelly (note Barony of Killian)

#6 house, outbuilding and land 24 acres 2 roods 7 perches

Laurence Scott, Parish Killeroran, Townland Cornanantamore, PLU Mountbellow
tenant of James Thorngate

#9 house, outbuilding and land 4.0.25

Luke probably married about 1803 and you might find the children' births on
www.rootsireland.ie and birth record would give mother's maiden ame.
Try for Matthew or Robert as John would too common a name. Once you have the mother's maiden name you can then search for all children born in Ireland to this couple.

www.igp-web.com can be a good resource depending on which county

No relation but here are some resources: Parish records would be few this early, both religions.

www.rootsireland.ie depending on the survival of parish records a baptism record for the children would have the mother's maiden name, parish/place/county, use the more unusual names Matthew and Robert, Jane.

Ballina was a Townland in various counties, and Killina was a townland in Kings/Offaly and Monaghan. Ballina was also a Poor Law Union in Co. Mayo.

They left Ireland too early the the Griffith Valuation 1847-1864 www.askaboutireland.ie

Tithe Applotments: 1823-1837: www.genealogy.nationalarchives.ie usually married before obtain their own lease. (these are not complete)

Irish children either religion usually were named after family members, 1st.. son grandfather, 2nd. son mother's father..... Luke was a very unusual name for the times. There is probably a Scott DNA project around the internet.

Connaught is not a place but a Province consisting of counties: Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and
Roscommon. www.failteromhat.com you can read about the 4 provinces of ancient Ireland.

This message goes back to Feb. 24th 2013 and on looking back at that post I see I made a mistake and spelt the town Killala as Kilina it made you think I didn't know about Killala and that it was in the County of Mayo. Here is a document that is making me go crazy because NOT ONE of the ancestry or other sights have this document or finding my Irish ancestors. A friend from New Zealand found it for me: ""INTENTION TO MARRY""
Index Diocese of Killala & Archony (County Mayo & in County Sligo [ intention to marry had to be given on 3 consecutive Sundays IE ' publishing the banns'
LUKE SCOTT & MARY BAIRD 1801 (( NOW THIS IS MY LUKE)) How do I find him?
JOSEPH BAIRD & ELIZABETH FURY 1808
WILLIAM BAIRD & MARGARET CALDWELL 1808
JAMES BAIRD & ANNIE ARMSTRONG 1821
Looks from this document that it maybe was a set of brothers and one sister that were married.
Can't find any more info than this and I've had it since 05/06/14. Thanks ANN I really appreciate your trying to help me......
