My greatgrandfather James Wilson was born in Portadown in 1886 or 1887. He came to America between 1881 and 1904. His sister Sarah Jane Wilson also came to America. They settled in Sioux City, Iowa. Does any of this sound familiar?

My Wilsons came to US about the time your James Wilson was born. All of the family came to New England, settling first in Enfield, MA (now gone) and moving later to Rockville, CT.

My Bleary, Co. Down, WILSONs or WILLSONs went to church in Portadown. Before 1800, they may have been in Moira. One son and his family immigrated to NY in 1870. Two of his sons, John and James, went to Sioux City after 1880. James married Alice DOLLAN/DOLAN? and died 1890 near Climbing Hill. John married and died 1893 in Sioux City.

Were they relatives of your James?

Can you describe your Irish family tree? Were they from the town of Portadown or a nearby townland?

All your names sound familiar but none of ours went to America. Are you certain on your DOLLAN/DOLAN name. I have GOLLAN/GOLAN connection with my WILSONs. I dont know anything on them though.

This is so close, but there is definitely no link here. This family definitely moved to NY in 1870. One son's grave is in NY and the other is in Iowa.

A New Zealander had several trees containing similar Irish locations (not the Ballydugan one), but we could not find a link. I can no longer find my copies of his trees, but you might search among NZ Wilsons.
