I am resuming my search for Catherine Lyons, daughter of James Lyons and Winnifred Higgins (O'hagan). A bible entry shows her birthplace Ballymena, Armagh around 1825. Unfortunately I am not sure how accurate this entry is. Legend has it that James Lyons was an overseer for Haugan, who had landed in Ireland from France, around the time of the Revolution there. When he married Winnifred, she was disowned by her father. Catherine married Alexander Stewart, a soldier with the Black Watch when he was stationed in Ireland and returned with him to Edinburgh where they raised their family. The family was Roman Catholic.
I am not sure if Winnifred or Catherine had any siblings. I believe that James Lyons was originally from Dundee Scotland.
Hopefully this connects to someone's research.
