Can someone please help me. I a trying to find ANYTHING about my ancestor Jane Greer who was convicted in Armagh on 24 June 1837. Her crime was stealing a sheet. Jane, just 15 years old was working as a childs maid probably in Armagh Co.
I have found that Jane was held in the Armagh Co gaol the, she was transported to New South Wales on the 'Sir Charles Forbes' which left Dublin on 11 Aug 1837.
What I would love to find is the trial records and who she committed the crime against.
Would there be any surviving newspapers or any other Armagh Co records from 1837 period?
I have never found and infomation on Jane's family and it is said she was born in Scotland. TIA Gerry
