Classification: Query
Surnames: TOLAND, Mc(C)ALPIN(E), HEYLAND, GA(U)LT, SIM(ME)S, ORR, BARRY
Seeking ANY info on any of the above families of southwest antrim.
In 1793 in southwest antrim (near Lough Neagh, perhaps 10-15 miles west of Belfast) Rosanna, dau of henry TOLAND & wife elizabeth Mc(C)ALPIN(E) married Daniel BARRY, who was originally from banbridge area.
In 1797 this couple, daniel & rosanna Barry emigrated to US.
Daniel Barry had been a tutor, first for mr ORR ca1790 probably in SW antrim or NW Down, then for john HEYLAND/HYLAND/HILAND who lived at Glen Oak(s)- probably name of his house/estate in SW antrim.
A relative of Heyland, a Miss Galt, emigrated with daniel & rosanna in 1797 to join her bro-in-law a mr Simmes (sp?) in fincastle, Virginia.
ANY info on any of these surnames in southwest Antrim (or NW co Down) today or any time in past would be greatly appreciated. Jerry
