"Robert Johnston, b. 1767, d. 1 Dec 1849, married Mary Porter Brown.

Two of their sons were Robert "Red Robin" Johnston, b. 1808 in Ireland, and Archibald Johnston, b. 1815 in Ireland."

From our oral family history we have that Robert, b. 1767, was born in Scotland and moved to Ireland where he married, raised a family and died. Robert "Red Robin" and Archibald moved to Upper Canada ca. 1832. One or more siblings died on the journey over. A married sister may have remained in Ireland.
