Also check the online BC vital statistics website at http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Genealogy/basi.... A search for Edward Dougherty, for instance, turned up his death certificate in Clinton, but also a connection to his daughter Mary Elizabeth's baptism in Victoria, BC in 1873 and his son Edward's birth in Maiden Creek, BC in 1877.

Many of the certificates are scanned and online, but if they are not, contact the Victoria Genealogical Society for copies.

Hi

Various spellings for this surname. There were two born around that time on the island. One born in 1837 and one born in 1839. The 1837 one moved to Liverpool, England so we can say for sure that your one was born in 1839. The parents appear to be Edmund Dougherty (Should be Edmund sometimes entered as Edward) and Jane Teare. Edward appears to have been baptised Charles Edward but later listed as Edward.
