Surnames: George

Someone named Carmen George died aged 94 in July 1990 at Plymouth, Devon. Birth date is given as 9 Jan 1896.
Death cert: Vol 21 Page no. 1536 Reg no 790.

There was a ship named RAJPUTANA, arriving London from Bombay on 25th Mar 1938. On board were:

William George, aged 56, Engineer
Carmen George , aged 42.

Under Country of last perm residence, it says Hong Kong.
But the ship, I think, started off from Bombay, calling in at ports like Tangiers, Marselles, Gibraltar etc. (So did they travel from Hong Kong to India and get this ship from Bombay?) ...On the left side of their entry, it has Marselles, which is a puzzle. Anyway, they got off at Plymouth and the ship went on to London. They were both heading to the following address: 5 Westbourne Road, Torquay.

William George made several journeys to Gibraltar, and always he is an Engineer or Electrician. On one voyage in 1926, when he was 44, he had come from 5 Westbourne Rd, Torquay, same address quoted in paragraph above. I suspect he might have worked in other countries beside Gibraltar but I am only guessing.

On other voyages, William George is coming from the address: 6 Derwent St, Torquay.

One other thing:

On the OSTERLEY, departing 23 Jun 1928 from London to Gibraltar was:

Miss C Davis, who had come from the address:
C/o Cooks, 17 George St, Plymouth. She was aged 32 (b 1896) ...Looks like Carmen - don't you agree?

There is an odd niggling question mark or two in my mind as to whether these are your ancestors - what do you think meanwhile?
Brian

P.S. I don't have a printer any more, otherwise I would send you some attachments.
