I am attempting to trace my "Scarff or Scarf" roots and believe that they may have resided in the Isle of Man from the early 1400's to the mid to late 1700's. It is my contention that some migrated to England and other to Ireland. My great great grandfather lived and was married in Ireland in the late 1700's up to the early 1800's when he and his family emigrated to Eastern Canada. Some moved progressively west while others either stayed in Quebec or Ontario and others moved to the United States.
I believe that the name may have originated as "Skerf or Skerff" and later changed to "Scarff or Scarf"
If you know of any "Scarff/Scarf" history, I would be ever grateful to hear of same. Thankyou very much.
