I have been tracing the Francis family tree ( my maiden name was Enid Francis and my father was Louis Henry Francis) . The family resided originally in Liverpool and in the 1880’s one branch of the family moved to Coventry which is where I was born. The earliest link I can find is to Lewis Henry Francis who married Maria Elizabeth Hook at St Marys Castletown IOM on February 15th 1827, he was a merchant seaman and I think came from Liverpool. I can’t find any trace of him before that or if his wife. Any ideas anyone about how to get back further???
