My original query on this thread came as the result of a most interesting itinerant person who had lived under three names, and I had a blank in the life history I had traced in the late 1940s and 1950s, and the only clue I had was a National Insurance number that was issued in Milton Keynes in 1951.

I am still struggling to find out a) if historical information is available and b) where to find it

I suspect it will be protected by a 100 year rule at least, so it will be for my ancestors to follow this up - unless I am still doing this when I am 94!
