I do have Walters birth Certificate, My gr grandad and that says
Born, 28 April 1885 142 Kiveton Wales, Father John, Mother Emma Rodgers (Eames),
I think what may have happened, was that at the time of their marriage they were living on Norfolk Street right in the middle of Sheffield ( the Crucilble Theatre stands there now). So I can't imagine the living conditions were great and his pay wouldn't be that good. So he went back to the Anston area( its the next village to Kiveton)or went to his in-laws and got a job at the pit. The pay for a miner was quite good by the standards of the day, plus you got a pit house and a bit of a back yard, which would be better than the middle of Sheffield.
Dose that sound resonable????
But how he got to be a cutler I don't know................
Its all very strange. Cos I've come across the Anston Rodgers before and couldn't piece it together and Mary in Worksop the single mother.
I'm glad its not just me having trouble with this one.
Thank you for your efforts!!!!!
