Hello Ell, don't know if you're still there or if anyone else can help. I realise this a conversation I started over 2 years ago, but its still this marriage certificate for John & Emma Rodgers.
Is it possible to 'runaway' to the next parish and get married in church?????
I've looked at the certificate again, and found relatives who say he was never a cutler, (see previous posts)
The certificate says they lived on Norfolk street, but theres no house number and the curate has signed it, saying he did the cermony is this possible?
The witnesses were Emma's sister Hannah Eames, and a Robert Allsop (born in Anston same as John) both of whom live on the same street in Kiveton Park as Emma & John plus Robert's wife was born in the same place as Emma & Hannah in Gresley in Derbys.
Emma Eames/Rodgers did have a daughter Gertrude in the fisrt quarter of 1880 then this marriage took place on 25th Dec 1880. Have they gone to Sheffield had a quickie marriage then gone back home to Kiveton and given every one a christmas surprise???!!!!
Can anyone help,. Would this be possible????
