Thank you for explaining. I am very happy because I have just managed to find an additional record for Clifford, and I did it all on my own! I am going to attach it to this post so hopefully you can see it. I need your help with making out one of the words.
You were very good at reading the word "Hampton" that I was stuck on before, so maybe you can read one of these words for me as well.
Where it says "object in going to Canada" I think Cliff has written "to settle on" but I can't read the next word.
Has he indeed written the word "settle?" And what is the word that comes after "on?" Does the full sentence say "to settle on farm?"
I have noticed that in this record he says he is destined to Winnipeg to obtain farm work. It is interesting that when he went back to Canada again four years later, he was destined for Snowflake. By 1928 he had apparently got a job lined in Snowflake to return to. I have looked up Winnipeg and Snowflake on the map. I wonder how he ended up in Snowflake instead of Winnipeg.
Edit: for some reason it won't let me attach the file in question. If you can search for it yourself, it's the one called "Canada, Ocean Arrivals (Form 30A) 1919-1924" and it's dated 1923.
