SMITH Gladys from ROTHERHAM, SOUTH YORKSHIRE (formally Yorkshire West Riding)

Classification: Query
Surnames: Smith, Watson.
Gladys Smith, my great grandmother, was born about 1898 and died in 1925 of thrombosis (or white leg as it was known), just a few months after my grandmother, Irene Mary Watson, was born. Gladys married Arthur Edward Watson (1886-1948) on the 20th May 1919 at St. Bede, Rotherham.
We believe that Frederick Smith was Gladys's father, and that the Smith family was of a Catholic background. We do not know the name of the mother, or any siblings that Gladys may have had.

Gladys had 2 children with Arthur Edward Watson (of Thorpe Hesley), the oldest being Douglas Watson (1919-1971) and Irene Mary Watson (1925-1989).

We know that Gladys did work in World War One, as a bus conductress (of which we have a photo of her in her uniform), but we don't know if she ever had another job.

Does anyone know anything else about Gladys Watson or her family?

Thankyou.
