Hi Bryan
Thanks for all the information, I will take a look at the sites you have suggested.
I have had a break through with the census details of William, on the 1841, the only thing that bothered me was his age, as it said he was 15, but from all the other census details it was double his age, but then in 1851 someone has helped me and found one where as his name was registered on the transcript as Teller not Sellar's, but on closer look at the document I could see it was Sellar's - so boom a big find, and he was living with his mother Ann and grandparents William & Elizabeth Marshall - I am ecstatic to say the least. The same person found me his death as he has transcripts, and it was the address where he had lived, as my G Grandad also lived at the same address, and stated parents Ann and George on the information.
This is the information that was passed to me so I looked a little deeper
First the 1841 census; Piece 1328, folio 7/19, page 9. Hill Top, Kimberworth.
George Sellars, 40, Miner.
Ann Sellars, 30.
William Sellars, 15.
Amelia Sellars, 10.
Elizabeth Sellars, 5.
George Sellars, 2 weeks.
William Marshall, 60.
Elizabeth Marshall, 50.
Joseph Brook, 15.
I know at first glance this doesn't look right, but it starts to look a bit better in 1851.
1851 census, piece 2344, folio 186, page 9. Kimberworth Street, Kimberworth.
William Marshall, head, 74, late steel refiner, Yks Haugh.
Elizabeth Marshall, wife, 69, Yks Thorpe Hesley.
William Sellars, grandson, 23, Cast Iron Founder, Yks Scholes.
Ann Sellars, Daughter, 39, School Mistress, Yks Rotherham.
So if this is the right Ann Sellars, you now have her parents. George Sellars is lodging with a family with the surname of James.
1851 census, piece 2344, folio 245, page 14. South Hall, Thorpe Hesley.
George Sellars, Lodger, 45, Iron Miner, Yks Scholes.
On 7 June 1860, a George Sellers aged 56 was buried at All Saints church, Rotherham.
1861 census, piece 3503, folio 74, page 4. 10 Market Place, Rotherham.
William Mower, head, 52, Master Saddler, Yks Rotherham.
Ann Sellars, Servant, widow, 48, Yks Thorpe Hesley.
18 June 1862, Ann Sellars aged 50 was buried at St Thomas, Kimberworth.
I have only actually found the census details as yet, but still no definite birth for William for me to purchase - but at least we are getting there now.
Thanks again for your help
Regards Dawn ;) x
