I am currently seeking information on my grandfather. On his birth certificate this is the information I have:

Name: Benjamin Evan
Sex: Boy
Name and Surname of father: Benjamin Holloway
Name, Surname and maiden surname of mother:
Ellen Holloway formerly Hughes
Occupation of Father: Labourer at Tin(?) Stamping Works
Signature, description and residence of informant:
E. Holloway Mother 23 Mill Road Stourport
When Registered: Sixth February 1914
Signature of Registrar: James Taylor

At the top it says: Birth in the Sub-district of Ombersley, in the County of Worcester.

THEN - on his marriage certificate to my grandmother... his age and place of birth is incorrect - their marriage took place 13 Aug 1953 in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Age 42 years - he would've been turning 40 in December of 1953...

Also, at some point - the story is that he was Holloway-Hughes or Hughes-Holloway and he "dropped" the Holloway.

Also, listed on the marriage certificate, his parents names are George Hughes and Margaret Taylor - I think maybe at some point his "real" parents couldn't take care of him or "gave" him to his grandparents and maybe that's who George and Margaret are?? (Considering Ellen's maiden name was Hughes). He was also married when he was in England or Wales and has 2 daughters - my dad remembers his aunts talking about them - although no names were ever mentioned, unfortunately.

On his death certificate, his name is listed as Benjamin Evan Holloway Hughes. He died 16 May 1973 in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
