me again
Although people tended to move quite a bit, they rarely moved very far (not easy moving your furniture on a horse/handcart etc) so my gut feeling/experience says stay with Kendal.

Although the 1841 census is notorious for bad spellings & dates, I cant find a Joseph with an Eleanor - the nearest match is
Joseph c1804 a
Saddlerwith a Nancy c1799 a
Draperin Milnthorpe, Kendal
there are only 4 Joseph's shown in total for
Westmoreland, the others being c1831
Beetham, c1796 Grasmere, c1827 Grasmere
There are no Isabella's that tie in nor, any Ellen/Elenaor/helen/Eleanor..... nor, any Sampson/Samson
likewise, in the 1851 census I cant find any tie in at all???!
Just because Eleanor wrote a letter from
Hay, it does not mean she lived there - could have been staying with relatives/friends ??
Have you any of the Joseph/Eleanor childrens certificates? what did he do?
