My Mother's uncle was William Frederick Bryan. Born 1873 in Birmingham. He enlisted into the 3rd Battalion RWarR in Birmingham in 1892. His regiment number was 3668. He transfered to the 1st Battalion which was stationed in Aldershot until 1895 when it went to Malta. The Battalion then went to Cairo for the Sudan conflict which took place from 1896-1898. They received the Atbara and Khartoum battle honours. William recieved the Queen Silver Sudan medal. Shorly after the Sudan campaign, the 1st Battalion was sent off to India probably in 1899. However, my mother always told me that he took part in the Second Boer War in South Africa. Now, 1899 was the end of William's seven years with the Colours but it seems the Army exercised their right to extend his period of service, which they were able to do in times of conflict, and it seems, sent him off to South Africa to join another RWarR Battalion. I have tried to discover his Service Records, discharge details and medals awarded without success. Can anyone kindly help?
Additionally, I have records for other soldiers which have the information that Additional Images of the record exist. How can I access the Addional Images?
William Bryan also served four years in WW1 and lived to be eighty!
