Thankyou very much for tracking down the christenings of these children Carol. I've always thought that the 1808 date of William's birth to be wrong...but that is what is on his grave here in Victoria, Australia, and on his marriage certif. in 1856, his age is stated as 35 years (means b 1821)with Ann's age 22 years. The 1818-1819 birth date you have found for his christening seems more likely, as it fits in better with the marriage of James and Anne. We are certain that his parents were James and Ann Handlon..as it's in family documents, and on his marriage certif.. A lady whom I've been in touch with has found that there were 2 William Peters from Dorking around the same age...one was married to an Anne Handlon (ours), and another to an Anne Dendy (hence we think the Dendy connection re our William's travels to Australia)She couldn't sort out which children belonged to which William and Ann.The 'Foster'helps with at least one child and the 'Dendy' eliminates another! Many kind thanks for your time Carol...I'll see if I can work all of this out!! Regards, Rosie.
