Hi, I would like some help with the different town names around the Somerset area. My nanna, Kathleen Mills (b 1897) always told us she was from Glastonbury, but was born in Wells. Her parents Samuel Mills (b about 1861) & Mary Dudden (B, 1862 m 25.12.1887 at Wrington) were from Axbridge. On Samuel's 1861 census, his address was Hill Head, St Johns & St Benedict, Glastonbury, in the District of Wells and city of Glastonbury. I have looked at a map to see that these towns are close to each other, but while trying to research their families I find it becomes confusing. For example, I'm looking for Mary Dudden's parents. Charles Dudden (b, 1827 at Redhill Wrington) and Ann Goodlife (B 1832), and have found some information. But is the Charles & Ann I find from Wrington, the same as the Charles & Ann from Redhill? So it is the same as saying you are from London, but live 20 minutes outside of London. Sorry if I have confused you all, but if I had, you may have some idea of how I feel trying to figure this out from Australia.
I do have a lot more information about the people I have mentioned, I just added the basics as an example.
Thanks
Janelle
