Trying to locate any next of kin to Lillian Turner, now deceased that lived on Bridge Street, Long Eaton, England, which is near Nottingham. She passed after 1975.

Have bit of an unusual request:

She bought a burial plot in 1975 for her neighbor, Michael Fitzgerald, and since she has passed, someone that is her next of kin has to give permission for a gravestone to be placed on Michael Fitzgerald's grave.

Any relatives of Lillian Turner???

Thank you in advance.

Greetings from Canada! I have been researching the Truswell tree for some time now, but have several holes yet to fill. The family is from Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire and also links to Egmanton and Tireswell. I am hoping to communicate with any Truswell now living in England with knowlege of the family history. There are a few of us in Canada and some in the US and Australia. I have a male line traced back to 1640. look forward to hearing from you.

MITCHELL in Nottinghamshire

Does anyone trace back to an ancestor with the surname Mitchell in Nottinghamshire, most likely in South or North Collingham? I am specifically looking for children of Samuel Mitchell (wife unknown as yet) who were born between 1809 and roughly 1830. He is supposed to have fathered some 15(!) children. I have found two of them in the US so far, in different states, but definitely his daughters.

I am also looking for Mitchells born in South Collingham between 1780 and 1795, parents Richard Mitchell and Sarah Harvey. I am pretty sure on the Harvey, having found a marriage record that fits perfectly. These children's names were: Sarah (most likely died young), Elizabeth, William, Richard, Samuel (my line), Ann, Sarah (yes again which led to the assumption that the first one died early).

One last request is that I am looking for anyone with a Ridall from the same area in their family tree.

Any help is much appreciated, and I will be happy to help you if I can.

Mary Lou

By early 1900 my ancestors had mainly settled in Carlton Notts, but seem to have originated from all over the county and beyond - Hatherleys from Keyworth and Hickling, Daykins from Nottingham, Gibsons from Hyson Green and maybe Blidworth, Sheppersons from Lambley and Alfreton, Taylors from Carlton, Teals from Doncaster. I have quite a lot of information which I would be happy to share with anyone interested.

There were also I believe rumours of murder.

There was a short piece in the newspaper about his death.
His family refuse to speak of it.

Is there any way I can find if he took his own life or was it an accident.

Francis & Sarah GLOVER nee WELLS - burial records of All Saints Church, Misterton, Notts.

Hi

I wonder if anyone has access to the burial records of All Saints Church, Misterton, Notts. or can tell me where I can access them.

I have found a baptism for a Francis Glover, parents Francis and Sarah, at Misterton, Notts, on 24 Sep 1826 (IGI). Francis and Sarah Wells married at Clarborough, Notts, in 1823. I can find no trace of any of the family on the 1841 or 1851 census. However, their other son, George, a Waterman, I think born 1828 Hillmorton, Warks (IGI and he gives his birthplace as Coventry in later census), married in Misterton in 1864.

I presume the parents and their son, Francis, died before the 1841 Census.

Regards
Christine

Trying to find info on the riley family in worksop/retford. Herbert Riley was born in 1869 in east retford and married emily rex 7.6.1897. His father was edward riley b 1847 i think he married a margaret barker in 1869 in east retford. Edwards mother was jane riley born 1808~1816 in ireland and died 1903. I think her husband was thomas (thos) riley but cant find much about him. He wasnt with the family in the 1841 census and by 1851 jane was a widow. She had children that i know of, eliza b 1835, Mary ann c 24.8.1836 in Clarborough, nottinghamshire (father named as Thos)charles b 1839, edward c 12 12 1841 again clarborough and henry b 1844. Between 1851 and 61 she married a william fells.
Any more info on the riley family and in particular jane and thomas would be very useful,
kind regards, Diane.

FARMER family of Sutton in Ashfield 1914

I am trying to trace a Thomas Farmer and associated family who would have had connections with Sutton in Ashfield in 1914. In particular with number 1 Lord Street in the town at that time. Thomas Farmer was an informant present at time of death on a death certificate, he could have been a neighbour, a doctor or possible employer of the deceased person. Lord Street has long since been demolished.

Would be very interested to hear from anyone researching Farmers in the area or if anyone has pictures or photos of the Lord Street area circa 1914.

Thanks John

Based on the census information I have she was born between Dec 1865 and Sep 1866. FreeBMD returned a large number Sarah Fletchers. When I narrowed the list to Nottinghamshire I still have several. How can I determine who the parents where without ordering the birth certificate? Sarah's was father was John Flecther and mother was Elizabeth ( maiden name uncertain).

Looking for more information on William who married in Liverpool, 1875 and appears to have been living in that area beginning with the 1871 census; worked as a groom or coachman. He was a widower in Toxteth Park in 1901 census and may have died there in 1906. Had at least these children: Joseph 1876, Frances 1880, Rosina Eliz 1882, Annie Krebs Harris 1884, Jessie 1886, Emma 1888. Seems daug Rosina married Albert E. Simon, no other spouses known yet. Can anyone identify his parents? confirm his children? Krebs was the maiden name of Frances Christina's mother.

I am trying to find the family of my Great Grandma Mary Cooke born in Radford, Notts about 1852 I can't find her on the 1861 census records and she married John Wilson in 1870 in Radford. On the marriage certificate her father was named as William Bower so I think her mother might have been married before. If anyone out there has any Information for me It will be much appreciated as I have been searching this ancestor for a long time.

Have been away from the boards for a while, but decided to repost a request for information.

I am interested in the Martin and Lemon families who lived in Mansfield from the 1920's onwards.

My Great Grandfather George Lambert MARTIN practised as a dentist on the Bull farm Estate (1926 Shaftesbury Avenue, 1927 Ruskin Road) moving by 1940 to Chesterfield Road North. His wife was called Annie. He died in Forest Town in 1967.

My grandfather (the son of the above) was Randolph Lambert MARTIN, he was a lorry/coach driver who died in 1973 in Mansfield. He married Doris Gwendoline LEMON the daughter of Arthur Ernest LEMON, a grocer of King Street, Mansfield.
Randolph Lambert MARTIN prior to 1961 lived in Big Barn Lane and after 1961 in King Street.

My father Arthur Lambert MARTIN was born in 1930 in Mansfield. He married twice, the second time to my mother Pamela ARROWSMITH from New Houghton. He spent some of his military service in Detmold, Germany. He was also the licensee of the Rifleman public house in Sutton-in-Ashfield. He died in Mansfield in 1985.

Does anyone have a connection with this family? Does anyone remember them that could provide me with more information?

Thanks in advance.

Stephen Andrews (formerly Martin)
Brussels, Belgium

Hello, I am trying to find the death information for my great grandmother. Her maiden name was Helen 0r Ellen King and she became Biddleston when she married my great grandfather Francis Biddleston in 1896. She was born in 1877 in Hucknall Torkard and lived her entire life there until she died. I believe she died after 1921 in Hucknall Torkard and is buried in Huckanll Cemetery. Any information at all would be great! Thanks! Jayne

He had 2 brothers, William and Alfred and a sister Eliza.
I am not sure if they were born in England or the USA.
The obituary I have does not mention his parents and my grandfather- his son- died in 1974.

I am trying to establish the death details of my paternal grandfather David Hearne.
Through research I have established that a man named David hearne was found in the river trent on 16th april 1948, aged 57.
From what I can gather from my late father, his dad may have left the london area, where abouts for he did not know.
On the death certificate it stated that a post mortem and inquest were carried out.
Further enquiries led to finding out that he was buried in a public grave in northern cemetery in nottingham.
I have tried unsuccessfully to get information on the inquest/post mortem to establish what had happened, and also to try and establish if there was any suggestion that he was from the london area, ie something in the way of identity papers.
I cannot fathom out how they established his age without having nok come forward, they do not know his dob.
I have been to nottingham library and looked through some papers from the period but could find nothing mentioned.
So currently I am hitting a brick wall with my research, any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Selston parish records - PENDLETON look up?

If anyone has access to the Selston Parish Records, I would be very grateful if they could check a baptism entry for me.

According to the IGI, on 17 Sept 1820 Mary Anne Pendleton was baptised in Selston, the daughter of George Pendleton and Catharine. My research suggests that she should have been the daughter of George Pendleton and Jane (nee Wilkes).

If somebody could check the Selston records to confirm the mother's name, that would be very helpful.

Best wishes,
David Sharp
