Classification: Biography
Surnames: Cummins, Cummings, Brown
Okay--here it is: Darlington St. Cuthbert baptism: Margaret Cummins baptised 26 June 1836 daughter of John Longstaff Cummins and Elizabeth, abode Darlington, Cabinet maker.
After Elizabeth the wife dies it looks like John marries someone named Margaret as I think I found him in the 1861 census. John L. Cummins marries Margaret Brown in 1851 in Newcastle
1861 census
RG9/3821 folio 38 page 9
St. Andrew
Snowden Street
John Cummins, Head, mar,49, Joiner, Durham Darlington
Margaret Cummins, Wife,50, Northumberland Bellingham
Richard Cummins, Son, Unm, 18, Carver and Gilder, Northumberland Newcastle upon Tyne
Joseph Cummins, son, unm, 15, Painter, Northumberland Newcastel upon Tyne
Richard Cummins was born in 1843. You could get his birth certificate to see what Elizabeth's name was.
There is an Elizabeth Cummins birth registered in 1838 for Newcastle
I see 2 possible deaths of Elizabeth Cummins in Newcastle. One in 1847 and one in 1848. A death certificate for a wife will have the husband's name and occupation. You are looking for joiner, or cabinet maker.
The last name seems to be Cummins and only in the 1841 census was it Cummings.
Hope this helps. You should give all the details you know including census records, dat3es, spellings, etc. It helps so folks helping out don't have to cover ground you already know.
