Hi can anyone give me some advice please,
My great Grandfather was an illegitimate child born 23/02/1886 in st pancras workhouse, mother lizzie phillips, he was also baptised 10/03/1886 st pancras workhouse, both records show him as Herman Phillips, but I can not find him on the 1891 or 1901 census.
Below is all the other info I have;

1905, Herman Frederick Phillips marriage to Rosina collins in Islington

1911 Census Frederick Phillips with Rosina and child living in Tottenham

1912 Herman Frederick Phillips marriage to Elizabeth Betton Haringey, Tottenham

WW1 pension Records Frederick Phillips, living in Tottenham

1942 Herman Frederick Phillips death, he died at 175/6 lordship lane tottenham, owners of the house were Charles and Lilian Lefevre.

I just can't seem to find him in 1891 or 1901 and I don't know why he went from Herman to Herman frederick,

Any advice would be brilliant as I have been stuck behind this brick wall for 4+ years.
