His mothers name on birth certificate is Lizzie phillips of 22 percy street Pancras but no fathers name, and on his baptism record his mother is stated as Lizzie phillips, and that Herman was an illegitimate child
On his first marriage certificate in 1905 is states that his father was Herman H****** Phillips (Deceased)and that his father was a carpenter.

1912 marriage certificate states that his father was Herman Phillips, carpenter but it does not say that he was deceased,

someone once said that he might of made his fathers name up to hide the fact that he was an illegitimate child,

but to add more confusion, my Grandfather said that his dad (frederick Herman) only every once mentioned his mother and he said she was Alice Hermart, no mention of a Lizzie.


can you understand why I have been stuck for years on this
any ideas on what to do would be a god send
