CLARA HURLEY (SOANES) Stoke Newington

Classification: Query
Surnames: HURLEY/SOANES/HOSKINS
I am looking for more information about Clara. She was born on 25 May 1871 (Vol 1d p316) in Lambeth, Surrey. A source tells me possibly born in the York Street Lying in Hospital but I have no confirmation of that.

Supposedly her parents were Samuel Hurley a doctor and an Eliza Pratt. However, I found a baptismal record for a Clara Hurley in St Mary’s Lambeth on 2 June 1871. Her parents are listed as Samuel Hurley (gardener) and Eliza.

At some point she was adopted or taken in by Edward Soanes (a builder according to her marriage record) and his wife who was possibly called Elizabeth. There may be two siblings Fred who may also have been adopted and Jane.

She married Edward William Hoskins 20 Sept 1891 at St Matthias’ church Stoke Newington. In the marriage registry she is referred to as Clara Soanes. Her father’s name is given as Edward Soanes builder deceased and the groom’s as Thomas Hoskins Fruitier. I have traced the Hoskins side but not Clara’s.

On 19 Aug 1911 they emigrated to Australia.

All the information I have is very vague and second hand and I have tried looking for her but can’t think of where else to try. I will in Australia so can’t pop into any local record offices. If anyone knows anything about Clara I would be grateful for any leads.
