Surnames: warren, Hancock, maggs
Emily Sarah Warren is at least 3/4 Indian, we always were told half Indian.

Sarah Amy Warren b. 1822 in Middlesex, gave birth to Emily Sarah Warren in 1848 LAMBETH SURREY.. (Name change to Emily Amy Warren at some point for unknown reasons)

Sarah Amy Warren – then appeared as Sarah Hancock as per the 1851 Census where Emily is 3 yrs (with her sister Amy Matilda aged 6) and Joseph Hancock as spouse.
Mis-transcribed as Elizabeth in later census records.

There is no marriage record for these two at all. The only marriage record for Joseph is a 1846 marriage to a SARAH MAGGS. (misspelled as Handcock)

So I was wondering perhaps Sarah had actually already been married, (Warren-Maggs) .. then married Joseph? Still wouldn’t explain the father being absent on the girls birth certs.

I can’t even get my head around it, there is just no marriage of a Sarah Warren to Joseph at all but the census says their married.
It has to be Sarah Amy Warren because I have two of her kids birth certs with her name on them, and the kids in the census with Joseph.

Anyone that's keen for a challenge? ha-ha!
