I am trying to find the parentage of Martha Randall, my 2 x great grandmother.
She married William Tickle, 16 March 1811, Westminster Street, Hanover Square, London and, unfortunately, died in 1834 (in Birmingham) before the 1841 census.
I haven't (yet) gotten a transcript of the marriage but I don't expect there to many clues when I do.
A cousin (and contact of another cousin of mine) thinks she was born in London but I don't know how she came to that conclusion.
A forum member kindly checked the LDS indexes for me and the most likely baptism there is:
Martha Randal
11 MAR 1791, Saint Mary, Harmondsworth, London, England
Parents: William Randal and Ann.
The couple had three other children in the indexes, baptised in the same place.
William: 17 August 1788
Elizabeth: 18 June 1793
Sharl. (presumably Charlotte): 04 MAR 1795
I've found seven marriages for a William Randall, in London, in the time frame I think most likely (aged between 20 and 30 years) and three for Elizabeth. Unfortunately, there are no likely marriages that I can find for Charlotte. The only likey marriage for a Martha Randall (in London) in the appropriate time frame is the one to my ancestor.
I was hoping that I could check the censuses and trace these people, and then, maybe, find a will that would prove that my Martha belongs to this family, but I'm overwhelmed by the number of possibilities, have discovered that freecen doesn't seem to cover the area, and can't afford a subscription to view the 1841 censuses as yet. I'm, honestly, feeling overwhelmed: most of my English research has been using the LDS indexes and I've only just started branching out.
