Hi everyone,

as we all do, I suppose, I make great use of the different censuses to trace families, their whereabouts and possible newborn children of deaths since the last census.

However, I am trying to find someone "in between" censuses. If it were an adult, I would try the tax records and election registers, but I'm looking for a child...
My grandfather Gaston Huygens was born in Belgium in 1920 (Belgian father - Francis Dominique Huygens, UK mother - Ethel Maud Graham), came to the UK in the second half of 1925 or Winter 1926 after his mother's death, and stayed there until 1930 or 1931. He always told us he lived with relatives in Scotland, but all of his family was from London, except his grandmother Catherine Copley, who was from Claypole, Lincolnshire. I think I have traced all the immediate family, but none of them were in Scotland.

If anyone has an idea of how to trace children visiting family, please let me know... Adults are often registered somewhere (rate books, telephone books, ...) but not children. He won't appear in the 1921 or 1931 census either, since he wasn't in the UK at that time.

I was hoping there are some "immigration records" available, but since his mother was a UK citizen he possibly never needed a visa or anything of the sort. He never had the British nationality though, on paper he was 100% Belgian.

Regards,
Tom

PS since he often talked about her, there is a good chance that he lived with his aunt Elsie Louise Graham. She lived in London though (according to the 1911 census, and she died there as well in 1936), and her grandson doesn't know anything about any property or connection with Scotland either.
