Hello, I have had the Family Division search twice now for the divorce/annulment of my Grandmother's bigamous first marriage on 18th March 1939. Her name was Ivy Lee and she married one Clifton Peter Scott-Riddle who was already married. If no record of a divorce or annulment can be found was it due to the fact that war broke out that year and authorities turned a blind eye to it or was it because this man disappeared and so they could not get him to sign anything? I am at a brick wall with this. If there was no annulment of that bigamous marriage, how was my Grandmother free to marry my Grandfather in 1942?? Any help or advice gratefully received.
