I am researching the Royfee/Royffe family who were a Huguenot family residing in the East End of London from the 18th century. My grandfather Ernest James Royfee (b. 1886 Haggerston) emigrated to New Zealand just before the First World War, returning to Europe to fight in France with the New Zealand Army, before settling in New Zealand. His father was John Royfee m. Emily Crane 1874 South Hackney Parish Church ( and was part of a Royfee/Royffe family residing in Bacon Street, Bethnal Green, between the 1850s & 1870s). John Royfee's father appears as John Royffe (Weaver/Tailor) m.2 Sarah late Jepson formerly Dunkley, 1839 at St John's, Bethnal Green. He was born approx. 1805 and died 1874, and his father is also listed as John Royffe (Weaver).
I completed a lot of family research when I lived in London in the early 1980s, and I would be very interested in learning more about the wider Royffe family.
