William b.a. 1843 at Lupton, Westmorland. Wife Elizabeth/Betty Postlethwaite (daughter of John) b.a. 1843 at Kirkby, Lancashire. Children: Jane b.a. 1869 at Ireleth, Lancashire; Joseph b.a. 1871 at Dalton, Lancashire; Elizabeth b.a. 1872 at Urswick, Lancashire; Thomas b.a. 1873 at Urswick, Lancashire; Miriam b.a. 1877 at Dalton, Lancashire; and Ann b.a. 1879 at Dalton, Lancashire.

They are listed in the 1881 census as living at Ulverston Road, Dalton in Furness, Lancashire.

William and Elizabeth were married 9 Dec 1867 at Dalton, Lancashire.
