I am looking for more information on the following family:
Robert Bracewell (b. approx 1833/4) married Jane Fryer (b. approx 1830), both of Barrowford. They were both weavers, according to the 1861 census, and lived at Walton Cottages, St Thomas parish, Barrowford. In 1873 Robert is listed as a chapel keeper on his daughter Sarah's marriage certificate.
They had the following children:
Sarah (b. 9 April 1853, d. 4 Oct 1913) married Wilkinson Dawson 6 Nov 1873
Mary Jane (b. approx 1856) - never married, later lived in Burnley
Leila (b. approx 1858) - never married, later lived in Burnley
George F (b. approx march 1860) - never married, was a travelling salesman and died of tuberculosis before his sisters
I strongly suspect that Robert may be the son of David and Ellen Bracewell, who lived next door. The LDS site lists 5 children of a David Bracewell and Ellen (Wolton/Walton) Bracewell - Betty and Mary (christened 1829), Thomas and Robert (christened 1833) and David (christened 1837). The ages/proximity of addresses/religion seems to tally up.
According to the 1861 census, this David Bracewell was born around 1805, Ellen around 1801, their unmarried daughter Mary around 1828/9) and her daughter Ellen around 1852.
There are also Fryers living very nearby in Walton Cottages as well.
If you notice a connection, I would be grateful to hear from you!
