My great great grandmother was born Elizabeth Garbutt, and married Augustine Marsden. She was born in 1833 in Cheadle Bulkeley. I'm trying to trace her family back. I've found that her father was born in Reeth, Arkengarthdale in Yorkshire in 1800, and in the 1851 and 1861 censuses his wife's name was Elizabeth. However the only record I can find of a Robert Garbutt having the children named on the censuses was with a wife named Harriet (or Harriott), so presumably she died and he re-married. I'd love to be able to go further back than this, so if anyone can help I'd be grateful. The 1841 census would be fantastic, but I can't find it.
