I have just started tracing my family tree and have not had much luck. My mother's side is Irish so drawn a blank there and my father's side is of Romany descent, we think! The person who I am trying to get some info on is my great-grandmother Emma Eliza Ryder (nee Wallace born circa 1889) - the Romany. I doubt whether a marriage ever took place as her pension book had the name Wallace when she died in 1975. She lived with a man called James Ryder in Aston-Under-Lyme(Lyne)and she had about 14 childern, only two survived. Albert (wheelchair bound) and Emma Eliza (married Kenneth Marsden lived in Australia movec back to uk and divorced, then Fogg). The only information I have is that she was born near Sherwood Forest (suspect), never had her birth registered and never appeared on the electoral role. Her grand-daughter has applied for info from Sommerset House but drawn a blank. Any ideas anyone on how I can pursue this thread?
