I was wondering if anyone can help me with the problem?

James CHARGE married Mary Ann EBERN at St.Stephens 1876 and unfortunately didn't write in his father's name.

James CHARGE is noted as being a stableman/labourer in the 1861-1901 census and being born in Bricket Wood/St.Stephens.

For a long time I suspected James (born in Brickett Wood) to be the son of Thomas CHARGE and Rachel MUNT as I found a baptism in St.Stephens in 1850.

My suspicions came about when the James CHARGE I found on the 1841-1851 consistantly gave his birthdate as around 1847 and I recently found a marriage to a Jane MORRIS in 1868 (his father a Thomas).

I figured a few years wasn't much and perhaps he married twice and never said he was a widow?

As it was, I found no burial for Jane MORRIS/CHARGE in fact I found James CHARGE's burial and her re-marrying by the 1881 census.

Which meant I had a second James CHARGE who was born about 1857 around Brickett Wood. Unfortunately my ancestor. I have looked at St.Cath's indexes, St.Stephens PRs and I'm even searching further afield now, I even hunted through pre-1861 census with no luck. I am certain there's a James number 2 out there somewhere only I need to find his baptism. I am also beginning to think he may of been illegitimate or his father died young hence the lack of name on the marriage cert.

Unfortunately I cannot find his burial either and he seems to of died before the 1911 census.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lyn.
