In WWII many dockyards workers were moved to Dunstaffnage (Oban) and Corpach (Fort William) after Portsmouth was heavily bombed.
I was looking through some wartime Valuation Rolls this morning, in 1944 there were a couple of pages of names of various dockyard tradesman living at Annat Village near Corpach and by 1945/1946 there were five or six pages of them. The surnames do not seem to be Scottish ones so presume many or most must have been from Portsmouth (or other dockyards).
Just thought I would mention as it could be a source of information on relatives who disappeared for a period during WWII. I think they had their families with them.
