I've been told there was an Alfred Asher belonging to my family, born in Southampton around 1790-1810 & that he died young. He would have been Jewish/of Jewish origin, but most of the family in other parts of the country were baptised in Church of England churches. Someone with a public family tree on Ancestry had one born in Southampton in 1800. I've sent a message but had no reply & the information has now been removed ! I can't find a death or find him on the census records ANYWHERE (if he did exist, this would tie in with the idea of his dying young)
