After many years, I'm still searching for information on my 2 x GGrandfather, Thomas Hitchins. His mother was Ann Hitchins. She was unmarried when Thomas was born in Barton Street, Gloucester. She registered Thomas' birth 3 days after he was born. Then 3 years later, we found Thomas living only 3 doors away with a family called Mook. No sign of Ann at all and Thomas disappears. He then re-appears 24 years later in Liverpool, Lancashire, marrying Emma Cotgrave. On Thomas's marriage, he says his Father's name is Michael, but we have his Birth Cert and there is no Father named. Likely he just said this to make things appear more appropriate?
Can anyone help with the Hitchins conundrum in St Michael? I have scoured records for years and can't find anything that even vaguely helps. Anything would be better than nothing!
