Could anyone help with my query please. My G Grandfather died in the Bristol Workhouse, in 1914. He had broken his back in an accident and from what I can read from his death certificate, spent his final few months of life there. Other information I have leads me to believe that he was a reasonably wealthy man and I cannot figure out why he would be in the workhouse. Would anyone know if it was maybe also a hospital? Any information would be very gratefully received.
