Surnames: Fry, Kay, Keyes, Gurney
I'm looking for any information about an Elizabeth Fry, or possibly Sarah Elizabeth Fry, born in Bristol abt 1808 from all the census entries. My husband's family have letters from the 1870's to her from Bristol relatives, and there are memories of food and clothing parcels being sent to her from the family - the story is that she married 'beneath her' and that she was related to Elizabeth Gurney Fry. She married a James Kay in 1828 in Sunderland and the daughter who is the direct ancestor is Jane Cooper Kay, born in 1841 in Sunderland. James Kay was a shipwright, and signed his name with a mark on Jane Cooper Kay's birth cert. The eldest daughter Mary Ann was born in Windsor 1833, the eldest son John born outside County Durham abt 1827(1841 census only for him so far) and the family were then settled in Bishopwearmouth, Durham. Other known children Elizabeth 1837, Rebecca 1844
I couldn't find a marriage for Elizabeth Fry and James Kay on familysearch.org, although there was a marriage on another tree for individuals of this name in Sunderland in 1828 but it was unsourced. There is a marriage on familysearch.org for a Sarah Elizabeth Fry and James KEYES in Westminster in 1824, but the surname of James was definitely Kay.

I've now confirmed from Jane Cooper Kay's birth certificate that her mother was Elizabeth Kay. Elizabeth is the name she used on all this and the census entries except the one after she was widowed - then she gave her name as Sarah E Kay. Interestingly the family 'story' is that she was Sarah Elizabeth Kay or Keyes. (birth years from census's are 1808 x2, 1810, 1798 (think this is an error - matches her older husband's birth year) All places of birth given are Bristol.

Does anyone either know about this person, or know about all the relatives of Joseph Fry and the other 'chocolate' Frys and can help me find what the connection is.
