Surnames: Laugharne, Langarne
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone could help me with death records in England. I've found a few index records but I'm not sure if there is anyway to match them to the person I am researching. Is there any way to do it online, or do I have to buy a certificate, if so what's the best way to do that and will it give me parent's names or another way to confirm it's the same person.

I'm looking for Florence Laugharne ( also sometimes spelt Langarne ) She married Thomas Harold Mather in 1914.
On her wedding certificate she is 26 years old. I found her on the 1891 census and she is 3 years old.
Estimate date of birth 1888.
Her father is William and her mother is Mary ( unknown maiden name )

I've found these

Name: Florence Mather
Birth Date: abt 1888
Date of Registration: Sep 1947
Age at Death: 59
Registration district: Droxford
Inferred County: Hampshire

and this one

Name: Florence Mather
Birth Date: abt 1887
Date of Registration: Jun 1965
Age at Death: 78
Registration district: St Helens
Inferred County: Lancashire

There is no way to establish what is on a death certificate without buying it. Even then, there is no guarantee that the certificate will confirm absolutely that it is the right person. The information contained on the certificate, at those dates, will be:

Name, date and place of death.
Age at death (not date of birth)
Occupation and usual address.
Cause of death.
The person who gave information for the death registration.

If you do decide to get the certificate(s), make sure you buy them direct from the GRO (www.gro.gov.uk). Third parties will charge considerably more than the statutory fee of £9.25 for a much poorer service.

Caroline

At the dates in question, it is quite likely that the occupation column for a married woman or widow will give the name and occupation of her husband. The informant may be a family member whose name you recognise.

I agree that the St. Helen's Lancashire death seems promising - IF they stayed in Lancashire.

Also, I tried looking for a maiden name for her mother. I see in the 1891 census that the family consists of
William 38, Mary E. 36, Amy 12, Jessie 6, Florence 3 and living with them is Sarah S. Willan age 47, single, sister in law
so that seems to look like Mary was maiden name Willan/Willam
Mary is shown born LEverton Liport, Lancashire and Sarah born Litchfield, Staffordshire

Liport looks to me like Liv'pool in image

William was born Liscard, Cheshire and the children born Walton, Liverpool

and in Free BMD marriages there is marriage Reg. Oct/Nov/Dec 1877 West Derby, Lancashire for William Laughame and Mary Eleanor Willan

so if the death for Florence has those parents it will be a match.

Do you have death data and place for Florence's husband Thomas Harold Mather? That may help if he died close to her year of death - would show if they were in same place?

OK , I found a birth of a Dorothy E. Mather born 1920 Wirral, Cheshire, mother maiden name Laugharne so that puts the family in Cheshire in 1920 -
