Today I received the following reply from findmypast regarding an email I sent them yesterday.
Thank you for your email.
The existing marriage records available on the site will remain however the GRO (General Records Office) will not be distributing any more Birth, Marriages or Death records in future as the law has now changed on this.
That means that therre will be no new records EVER for marriages after 2005 and births and deaths after 2006 that we can easliy access.
Further to my posting yesterday I thought it was marriage records only but in fact it is ALL idexes.
Why? We dont know. What is the change is the law exactly? We dont know.
I know this is a backward step and very worrying for future research.
