Related to Eliza Mumford whose parents were John Mumford
and Mary Carne Mumford. The information I have is that John
and Mary Mumford lived in Ugborough Devon. The info my
parents gave me was that Eliza was born in Eaton. Someone
told me that there was a small village in Devon called Keaton
and that they may have pronounced Keaton as Eaton. Eliza was
my grandmother's mother. My grandmother told me that Eliza had
been a lady-in-waiting or lady's maid. Keaton Farm is an historical
site now. Would the family who owned it be well-off. My grandmother
said Eliza heard bells throughout the day. Could there have been a nearby
church? Could the bells Eliza heard also have been when various
household tasks were supposed to begin? My grandmother thought
the bells were from Big Ben in London but I have never seen any info
that the ancestry.com Eliza Mumford lived in London. There has never
been any mention in my family about her siblings except for a photo of a wedding
party that my grandmother wrote on the back "my mother's sister's daughter's
wedding. I have that photo at my ancestry Ready family tree.
